About The School Morisset Public School is situated on the south‑west side of Lake Macquarie on Awabakal land. It is a proud member of the Western Shores Learning Alliance (WSLA), in partnership with four other primary schools and Morisset High School. The school has 159 enrolments within a community of increasing diversity. 28% of students identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and 15% originate from language backgrounds other than English. In 2026, the school will have a multi‑categorical support class. The wellbeing and engagement of our students is a priority with a continued focus on high‑quality explicit teaching to achieve improvement in literacy and numeracy. About The Role School Learning Support Officers provide support for students with identified diverse learning needs, including disability in classrooms and other learning environments under the direction and supervision of a teacher to support the achievement of educational outcomes. This support includes student welfare, health and wellbeing activities as required. This position will provide specific support for students in the newly formed 2026 Multi‑categorical (MC) class. Essential Requirements Working with Children Check Clearance Completion of mandatory training required by the Department of Education and a willingness to undertake first aid training relevant to the School Learning Support Officer role. Training to administer medications – will be provided based on student needs. Health support training to be provided based on student needs (subject to transition provisions). Selection Criteria Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team. Ability to work with students with emotional, physical or intellectual disabilities. Awareness of the needs of students with emotional, physical or intellectual disabilities. Effective communication skills.
