About the role: Reporting to the Building Coordinator and Senior Building Surveyor, you will be responsible for providing specialist technical information on building and related matters. Some of your duties will include: Assessing and processing building and demolition applications under the WA Building Act. Issuing permits and certificates in line with the Building Act 2011 and Building Regulations 2012. Conducting site inspections to ensure buildings meet approved plans and safety standards. Providing expert advice to builders, architects, engineers, and the public. Carrying out swimming pool pre-inspections and inspections. Investigating illegal or unsafe building activities and representing the City in legal matters when needed and support the Compliance team with legal matters as required. Delivering excellent customer service and contributing to the smooth running of the Building Services team. What you’ll bring to the role: Working knowledge of the National Construction Code of Australia and all relevant legislation. Well-developed written, oral and interpersonal communication skills. Sound knowledge of the statutory and legal requirements of the position of Building Surveyor. Basic understanding of Town Planning procedures and Planning Scheme. Level 1 and 2 Building Surveyor’s Certificate of Accreditation and Level 3 Technical Officer Certificate of Accreditation from LGIRS. Tertiary Qualification(s) within Building Surveying discipline. Pre-employment Requirements: Current C Class Driver’s Licence. National Police Clearance (less than six months old). Proof of right to work in Australia.
