About the Role The Senior Data and Utilities Officer is responsible for collecting, managing and analysing environmental data relating to energy, water, waste and greenhouse gas emissions. They will ensure Council has accurate and up-to-date information to guide climate decision‑making whilst also supporting the delivery of the Climate Action Plan by using data to track progress and identify opportunities for improvement. As a senior team member, they will provide leadership and coaching to the Environmental Sustainability & Utilities Officer, contributing to a positive, high‑performing team. Key Responsibilities Maintain and analyse Council’s environmental data to support accurate reporting and informed decision‑making. Oversee utility accounts and usage trends to identify opportunities to reduce costs and emissions. Provide data insights for climate action planning, risk assessments and grant applications. Collaborate across the organisation to prepare clear, accurate sustainability reports and presentations. Lead and support a small team to deliver high‑quality work and drive continuous improvement. About You Experience in managing environmental or utility data and a solid understanding of climate mitigation and adaptation principles. Strong analytical capability, excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem‑solving. Clear communication skills, collaborative mindset and the ability to translate complex information into practical insights. Demonstrated integrity, initiative and a strong commitment to environmental outcomes. Experience in local government, carbon accounting or sustainability reporting is desirable. Employment Requirements Unlimited work rights. Current National Police Record Check required. Some roles may also require an Employee Working with Children Check Clearance.
