Introduction Wandiyali is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation established in Newcastle in 1997. We are the largest accredited Aboriginal provider of PSP OOHC within Newcastle Lake Macquarie Hunter Region and Port Stephens. Wandiyali also has a number of Preservation Programs and support services that work closely with children young people and families. Wandiyali strives to employ support and develop therapeutic skills of Aboriginal people who have a passion for working in this sector. Description The Opportunity The Intake Caseworker plays a key role within Wandiyali as they are the first point of contact for vulnerable clients seeking support. The Intake Caseworker will work alongside clients to assess their needs providing brief interventions to mitigate safety and risk issues and will oversee and coordinate referrals internally and externally. The Intake Caseworker has strong knowledge of community resources and programs maintaining relationships with community partners and stakeholders to ensure effective coordination of support and services. The Intake Caseworker will oversee the intake of enquiries and assessment of referrals for the program and the suite of Wandiyali Preservation programs. Skills And Experiences Essential criteria; A commitment to the Vision Mission and Values of our Organisation This position is open only to female as being female is a genuine occupational requirement for the role to ensure Culturally safe and appropriate service delivery to women and children experiencing domestic and family violence Section 31 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW) Aboriginal or / and Torres Strait Islander OR is Culturally confident and able to demonstrate their knowledge and experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the community Tertiary qualifications in Social Work Community Services Psychology or a related field or equivalent demonstrated experience working in the Domestic and Family Violence sector Strong knowledge and skills understanding the complexities and correlates of Domestic and Family Violence and experience engaging with families with a range of vulnerabilities and complex needs which includes the person using violence Strong knowledge and skills understanding the complexities and correlates of Child Protection and Family Preservation Demonstrated knowledge and skills in Assessment and Case Coordination including implementing effective safety planning ensuring all family members receive trauma informed and Culturally safe integrated and coordinated quality support Demonstrates qualities of strong communication including conflict resolution and the capacity to build effective interagency relationships Sound organisational and time-management skills to balance crisis response with ongoing case management. Intermediate level of computer skills and experience using databases.
