About the Role We’re seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to manage the day-to-day financial operations of a privately owned group of construction, development, and related entities. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys autonomy, thrives in a structured environment, and is confident managing multi-entity accounting within the construction/property sector. You’ll work primarily in Xero, support Procore integrations, and take ownership of bookkeeping, compliance, and trust accounting. Key Responsibilities Bookkeeping & Reporting Maintain accurate financial records in Xero Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and trust accounts Produce regular financial reports and support management visibility Payroll Process fortnightly payroll, including superannuation, PAYG, and leave Ensure full ATO compliance via Single Touch Payroll (STP) Accounts Payable Process supplier invoices and maintain clean payable workflows Liaise with suppliers to ensure timely and accurate payments BAS & Compliances Prepare and lodge BAS, PAYG, TPAR, and other ATO obligations Support year-end processes and coordinate with external accountants Trust & Inter-Entity Accounting Reconcile trust accounts and manage inter-company transfers Understand ownership structures, funding flows, and entity relationships Systems & Process Improvement Maintain streamlined record-keeping systems in Xero and Excel Improve workflows to enhance accuracy, reporting, and efficiency Support integration with Procore (already mapped to Xero) What We’re Looking For 3–5+ years’ bookkeeping/accounting experience (construction/property preferred) Certificate IV or Diploma in Accounting / Bookkeeping (preferred) BAS Agent registration (advantageous) Proficiency in Xero, strong Excel capability, and familiarity with Procore or similar systems Solid understanding of Australian payroll, BAS, and GST compliance. Knowledge of trust structures and inter-entity accounting. Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills. High integrity, discretion, and commitment to confidentiality. Reliable and professional with a strong work ethic. Trustworthy, discreet, and respectful of sensitive financial information. Proactive and solutions-oriented, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
