Who You Are You are a voracious learner, and you love building things. You do not shy away from taking on the impossible. You apply these principles to all parts of science and engineering and are excited to operate at the forefront of technology development. You are an expert in your field and are ready to jump head first into the strange world of quantum sensing. It’s ok if you don’t have all the skills yet to build a quantum sensor, because you will work with a global team of experts to fill in the gaps. You may have come from a large corporation but the idea of working in a fast‑paced, highly iterative, and integrated team is exciting. Your Role Working hand in hand with the co‑founders, you’ll be responsible for the development of digital and analog circuits for our field sensors and will contribute to all electronics and optical sub‑systems of Nomad’s quantum sensors. This is an exceptionally hands‑on role requiring a broad skill set, including general circuit design and prototyping, RF system development and the integration of FPGAs and SoC. Responsibilities Work with a team of physicists and engineers to develop field‑ready quantum sensors Manage and grow our in‑house electronics capabilities and team Design, prototype and optimise sensor sub‑systems and custom PCBs Work with manufacturing partners for timely prototype and series production Debug and optimise sub‑system and sensor performance in harsh environments Guide the future electronics pathway of Nomad Atomics Requirements BSc/MSc degree in electrical or electronics engineering, or equivalent 3‑6+ years of related work experience in the industry Experience in low‑noise analog circuit design Experience in RF and MW circuit design Able to work in a highly collaborative and fast‑paced environment Eagerness to plan and drive forward complex electronics projects within a small team Demonstrated track record of electronic troubleshooting and SMT soldering Experience with schematic design, PCB layout and prototyping for mixed‑signal designs and, optimally, RF & microwaves systems Proficiency with Xilinx SoCs and Xilinx toolchain (e.g., Vivado), or similar Experience with power systems design, battery‑operated devices and EMC testing and device certification is beneficial Must have a current right to work in Australia Benefits The role is full‑time and based in Melbourne, Australia .
