We are modernising our platform in the workers' compensation and healthcare marketplace space. This involves deep integrations with healthcare Practice Management Systems (PMS) and building data and analytics tools for our partners. In this role, you will lead our move/ transformation from a single large Python system to a more structured and scalable architecture. You will also help design and build safe, AI-assisted features for our B2C users. Senior Python Engineer (Principal or Staff Level): This role is one step below CTO. You will be a hands-on technical leader guiding two senior backend engineers and setting strong engineering standards. Responsibilities Lead the redesign of our Python monolith into smaller, well-defined modules and services. Set clear technical direction and raise code quality and performance standards. Build AI-driven features with strong privacy and security controls, such as PII and PHI redaction and safe output checks. Design and ship fast, reliable APIs and event-based systems using FastAPI, Django, or Flask. Work on database design, query optimisation, and performance tuning, especially in PostgreSQL. Manage deployments and infrastructure using AWS or GCP, Docker, Terraform or CloudFormation, and CI/CD tools. Ensure system visibility through monitoring and observability tools such as OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, and Grafana. Build secure healthcare calendar integrations with PMS tools like Cliniko, including OAuth, webhooks, sync, and error handling. Mentor engineers, review designs, and drive technical growth in the team. Requirements Mandatory for getting shortlisted: 10 to 12 years of backend engineering, including 8 or more years with Python in production. Proven experience as a senior technical leader, staff engineer, or founding engineer. Strong background in designing and maintaining APIs and event-driven systems. Deep experience in database design and optimisation. Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, infrastructure automation, and containerization. Strong understanding of authentication, authorisation, and data security. Demonstrated experience building two-way calendar sync with healthcare PMS systems in a production environment. Nice to have FastAPI, Pydantic, SQLAlchemy, and async Python. Celery or RQ, Redis, and event tools like Kafka, Kinesis, SNS, or SQS. Payments, ledgering, and marketplace matching experience. Familiarity with healthtech, workers' compensation, or insurance systems. Understanding of ISO 27001 or CPS 234 standards.
