Community Parenting Volunteer – Presenter About Gidget Foundation Australia Gidget Foundation Australia is a national not‑for‑profit dedicated to supporting the emotional wellbeing of expectant, new and potential parents. We provide free psychological counselling, group programs, and peer support to those experiencing perinatal depression and anxiety. Our mission is to ensure that every parent receives timely, appropriate, and specialist care. Become a volunteer The Community Parenting Program connects GFA directly with new parents and community organisation coordinators, raising awareness of perinatal mental health through established networks. Partner organisations include: Antenatal classes in public or private hospitals Community Parenting Groups (Mother’s Groups) Playgroups NSW and other established organisations Independent community groups such as library groups, childcare centres, faith‑based groups, etc. About the role Role: Face‑to‑face presenter Location: Engadine & Orana Playgroups Frequency: 4 times a year per location, commencing February 2026. Core responsibilities: Attend role‑specific training and learn about perinatal mental health. Develop and maintain relationships with small group coordinators. Deliver 5‑minute face‑to‑face presentations to new parent groups, presenting small audiences of 8‑20, with a mix of online and in‑person members. Use scripted presentations and PowerPoint slides to raise awareness, normalise mental‑health challenges, and advise when to seek further support. Outline local and national supports, including GFA services and practical tools such as mindfulness. Encourage parents to complete QR‑coded feedback forms.
