Position Description The American Samoa Legal Aid, Inc. (ASLA) is seeking to employ a full‑time or part‑time staff attorney for our non‑profit law firm that provides free civil legal services to low‑income residents of American Samoa. About The Position ASLA is interested in hiring an attorney preferably with experience in representing clients in civil matters. Experience in one or more of the following areas would be helpful: Family Law, Consumer Law, Home Foreclosure Defense, Debt Collection Defense, Administrative Law, Immigration, Domestic Violence, Social Security, Public Benefits, etc. Responsibilities Provide effective legal advice and representation to ASLA clients. Perform work assigned by the Executive Director. Comply with applicable Legal Services Corporation regulations in 45 CFR Part 1600 et seq. or grant requirements. Adhere to ASLA Board and Office policies. Articulate ASLA’s mission in the legal community, judiciary, government, nonprofit organizations and the community at large. Salary and Benefits Salary for full‑time staff attorney is $70,000 per year plus a monthly housing and utilities stipend, generous leave and other benefits. Salary for part‑time staff attorney will be pro‑rata or negotiated based on hours of work per week.
