Overview An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and hands-on Financial Controller to join a dynamic and growing professional services business on a 3–4-month contract, with the potential to become permanent. This senior position plays a pivotal role in managing and overseeing all financial and accounting activities across the organisation, supporting the CEO and Board in driving strategic and operational excellence. As part of the senior management team, you will demonstrate strong leadership, exceptional problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced and evolving environment. Key Responsibilities Oversee all aspects of financial management, accounting, and reporting. Prepare monthly management accounts, budgets, forecasts, and cashflow reports. Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and daily bank reconciliations. Prepare and issue monthly client invoicing and ensure accuracy across all billing functions. Support the CEO and Board with strategic financial insights and high-level projects. Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, and bankers. Ensure compliance with taxation, superannuation, and payroll obligations. Maintain and manage business insurances and liaise with brokers as required. Develop, improve, and document finance processes and systems to support operational efficiency. Oversee onboarding of new employees into finance systems. About You You are a proactive and detail-oriented finance leader with the ability to balance strategic thinking and hands-on execution. You possess: 5+ years’ experience in a senior Financial Controller or similar role. Proven experience managing end-to-end finance functions in a professional or service-based business. Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with a focus on accuracy and timeliness. Excellent interpersonal and leadership abilities, with strong communication and presentation skills. Advanced proficiency in Xero and Microsoft Excel (experience with Business Central advantageous). A high level of integrity, dependability, and the ability to perform under pressure.
