Job Description Our Villawood plastic packaging manufacturing site is seeking an experienced Health, Safety and Environment (WHSE) practitioner to take the lead on implementation of the Group health, safety and environmental strategy, management system and programs within Pact's household and industrial division. The role requires close collaboration with the leadership team and WHSE teams to instil a culture of safety excellence, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive continuous improvement. Your Key Responsibilities Support Pact Packaging WHSE program aligning it with overarching objectives and values. Act as a subject matter expert for assigned WHSE elements and lead the development and deployment of associated policy, procedures, systems and programs. Promote and nurture a strong safety culture through heightened awareness, engagement, and continuous improvement efforts. Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and the WHSE personnel to be effective safety leaders. Identify, assess, and mitigate workplace hazards specific to Pact Packaging's activities. Ensure all sites have a current risk assessment and that regular site inspections and observations are conducted to ensure effective hazard control measures are in place, focusing on critical risk areas such as machinery safety, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, traffic management, chemical safety, and working-at-height protocols. Maintain an up‑to‑date knowledge of health, safety and environmental regulations and ensure division‑wide compliance through a program of audits and compliance checks. Act as the interface with regulatory authorities when necessary. Incident reporting and investigation: manage high‑risk events and notifiable incidents, ensuring they are reported within required timeframes and provide support to sites in incident investigations and corrective actions. Oversee the development and delivery of tailored WHSE training programs at all levels within the Division, encompassing employees, contractors, and visitors to ensure comprehensive education on WHSE matters. Create and maintain all division‑specific health and safety procedures and guidelines. These protocols should complement the Group procedures and continually reflect industry best practices and legal requirements. Provide "on the ground" support within the Villawood site including specialised WHSE tasks, such as risk assessments and solutions identification. Prepare and present monthly reports on WHSE performance. Your Skills and Experience Extensive knowledge of Australian WHS and environmental legislation. Proven experience in a WHSE role within manufacturing or industrial sectors. Strong influencing and change management skills. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities. Analytical skills for incident investigation and risk assessment. Experience with WHSE management systems (e.g., ISO 45001, ISO 14001). Ability to influence and drive cultural transformation.
