Lecturer (Teaching & Research) - People Culture & Organisation Job Reference: School of Management and Marketing The School of Management and Marketing (SoMM) in Curtin Business School develops globally minded, career‑capable graduates, advancing responsible, evidence‑based business through innovation in education, research, and engagement. Located in the Faculty of Business and Law, Bentley Perth campus of Curtin University, we collaborate with Curtin’s global campuses in the United Arab Emirates, Singapore, Mauritius, Sri Lanka and Malaysia. SoMM offers a broad range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in International Business, Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Strategy, Tourism Hospitality and Events, Supply Chain Management, Marketing, Human Resources Management and Business Information Systems. Our research profile reflects a commitment to industry relevance, societal impact and engagement, and hosts leading research entities such as the Future of Work Institute, the John Curtin Institute of Public Policy, the Tourism Research Cluster and the Consumer Research Lab. People, Culture and Organisations (PCO) This early‑career position is situated within SoMM’s PCO discipline, focusing on human resource management, organisational behaviour, employment relations and public relations. Teaching areas include double degrees with law and psychology. Research covers quantitative and qualitative methods and broader disciplinary perspectives such as philosophy and sociology, addressing topics like multiculturalism, labour markets, teamwork, ethics, sustainability, leadership, gender, diversity and inclusion, and public interest communication. The role The successful candidate will be an early career academic (ECA) aspiring to advance their career in teaching, research and engagement. Responsibilities include under‑graduate teaching, and—subject to experience—post‑graduate teaching, curriculum development, Higher Degree by Research supervision, industry partnership, and professional development. The role encourages engagement with industry partners in both teaching and research. Key Responsibilities Design and deliver high‑quality, innovative courses in human resource management, employment relations and related disciplines. Develop course materials and assessment tasks aligned with contemporary and future labour market trends and learning objectives. Deliver high‑quality undergraduate and/or postgraduate teaching. Provide academic guidance and support to students, including postgraduate study options. Conduct high‑quality research, including publications in high‑impact outlets (e.g., A*/A‑ranked management journals). Identify sources of funding, develop and submit funding applications, and secure external research funding. Engage with industry partners, policymakers and stakeholders to understand their research needs. Engage in professional development, internal and external service, and engagement. Contribute to a positive School/Faculty/University culture reflecting Curtin’s values of Respect, Integrity, Impact, Courage and Excellence. Other duties as directed from time to time. Role Requirements Permanent work rights in Australia. Successful applicants must undergo a National Police Clearance and background checks to Curtin’s satisfaction. Selection Criteria A doctoral qualification in a relevant academic discipline (Human Resource Management, Organisational Behaviour, Psychology, Management). Demonstrated ability to teach at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels, and to develop innovative, high‑quality course materials. A record of excellence in delivering learning experiences across multiple teaching modes and platforms appropriate to their career stage. A record of high‑quality research, evidenced by publications in relevant disciplines and a clear plan to build a publication pipeline.
