We are looking for a highly skilled Risk Manager to roll up their sleeves, lead and enhance our risk management frameworks, ensuring our organisation remains resilient, compliant and future‑ready. About the Role As our new Risk Manager, you will be the trusted advisor and subject matter expert in risk, privacy and complaints management across The Gordon. You’ll lead the development and continuous improvement of our risk management systems, ensuring alignment with legislation, best practice and strategic goals. This is a pivotal role supporting operational integrity and promoting a risk‑aware culture throughout the Institute. Some key areas of responsibility include, but not limited to: Champion a proactive risk culture by partnering with stakeholders across all levels. Maintain and evolve The Gordon’s risk management and complaints frameworks. Ensure compliance with the Privacy Act through policy oversight, implementing training and undertaking assessments. Lead investigations and support fair resolution of complaints and appeals. Manage controlled documents and operational governance systems. Provide strategic reporting to the COO, CFO, Board, and Audit & Risk Management Committee. The ideal candidate is a subject matter expert in risk, with a collaborative mindset and a strong focus on solutions. You listen to understand, meet the business where it is, and help move it forward. Some additional skills you bring to help you succeed include: Demonstrated experience in risk management, including planning, register maintenance, control testing and treatment implementation. Strong collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills—you're known for building trust and delivering value – and you thrive in this environment. Experience managing document control systems and operational governance frameworks. Working knowledge of the Privacy Act and experience conducting Privacy Impact Assessments. Ability to manage and support Operational Management Systems (OMS) and controlled document environments. A legal qualification is a bonus—not essential—but the ability to provide sound guidance and sense‑check policy is highly valued. Proven ability to get things off the paper and into practice, with a focus on outcomes and continuous improvement.
