ABOUT THE ROLE
We are searching for a talented and enthusiastic individual to join our OpenDoor team as a Planning Director. This is a Full-Time position based in Sydney. This role plays a crucial part in supporting WPP's mission to deliver consistency, delivery excellence and best in class service for Amazon in every country across its diverse businesses, including XCM, Prime Video, and RMI.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead the interrogation of client briefs, understanding both business and communications objectives
Maintain engagement with media partners to maintain knowledge of the media landscape and understanding of core media principles and the capabilities of each media touchpoint
Understand internal product teams including GroupM product and service teams to ensure you have an understanding about their offerings and relevance to our client challenges
Understand laws of growth to Identify and define audiences that drive outcomes for campaign briefs
Report on audience media consumption trends and habits and identify new and interesting opportunities to connect brands to audiences
Deliver in channel ideation and tactics within campaign planning
Lead the creation of consumer journeys maps across paid, owned, earned and shared media
Understand and apply media planning principles (e.g., scheduling, flighting, recency, effective reach theories, seasonality, market prioritisation, roles of all communication channels) and strong ability to utilise agency and industry tools to enhance and support planned recommendation
Leading planning responses to brief:
Working with the strategy team to create actionable comms tasks
Addressing those comms task with the relevant roles of media/channel
Exploring the tactics within each channel that unlock the short- and long-term objectives
Ensuring all work is measurable back to brand and business outcome
Recommend sufficiency of investments within channel to ensure effective use of channels
Understand marketing science and how it influences decision making with media planning
Deliver internal thought leadership to the planning and client teams
Recommend innovation through media and emerging channels within brainstorms
Create measurement frameworks and learning agendas to ensure media and recommendation effectiveness
Understand how to connect data and technology into new approach to planning within client brief process
LEADERSHIP
Motivate the team to achieve individual, team and organizational goals
Develop and train team members to ensure they reach their potential
Ensure new team members are onboarded effectively
Empower team members with skills to improve their confidence, product knowledge, and communication skills.
Conduct fortnightly 1:1 check-ins, annual Career Conversations and Annual Performance
Create and foster a cohesive team environment through team activities and cultural moments
QUALIFICATIONS
Advanced knowledge and skills within Media Planning with understanding of the impact of work on other areas of the organization.
Requires a minimum of 8 years of experience.
Relevant qualification in Media or Marketing
Experience leading Projects, preferably with a qualification in Project Management
