Bendigo Rail Workshops (BRW) is a rail maintenance facility located in Bendigo, Victoria. BRW is a critical member of the Southern Shorthaul Railroad group of companies and as such performs maintenance work for some of the largest rail companies in Australia. BRW specialises in rail rolling stock; Maintenance and Upgrades Accident Repairs Full Strip-Down and Overhaul Painting Field Services and Provisioning Emergency Recovery About the role On a full time basis and reporting directly to the General Manager, the Business Development Manager is responsible for developing influential business contacts within the industry to attract business opportunities to tender for. Key Responsibilities and Duties Develop a contact list of influential people in the industry Liaise with decision makers at potential customers to develop a relationship to encourage business opportunities Conduct site inspections at BRW to demonstrate capabilities Liaise with project managers so they understand all components of a project once the project is confirmed: Full scope of the project Project compliance and quality requirements Resource, material and equipment allowances Start dates, key dates during the project and completion date Key customer contacts Assist project managers on projects as required Be a key contact for customers for all BRW enquiries on an as required basis Report to management on a weekly basis on potential projects upcoming, projects won and missed opportunities. Communicate with key customer contacts including email, phone, meetings and site visits Prepare tender/pricing as required to a standard ready for the General Manager to approve Prepare tenders in an approved format to enable efficient development of quality control documents Project reviews to be completed with customers after the project and at key dates throughout the process to ensure standards are exceeded Report to the management team the progress of each task weekly with enough detail that project managers can be substituted into the role as required Travel to Bendigo Workshops and Customer sites required from time to time. Skills and Experience Required Prior Rail Industry experience Proven history of tender success Experience in addressing senior management on all aspects of a business Ability to communicate project tasks and key deadlines Ability to communicate resource requirements with co-ordinators Quality focused High degree of attention to detail Highly skilled in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook Hold a current unrestricted Victorian Drivers Licence Ability to work both from home and on site when required Ability to travel to Customer sites from time to time Hold a current National Police Check or willingness to obtain one Ability to pass Rail Industry medical as required.
