Make a difference delivering outcomes for our millions of members Research & manage quant equity investment strategies and portfolios Permanent role based in Melbourne or Sydney ideally Your New Role The Systematic Equities team plays a key role within International Equities and is a key enabler for the delivery of the department's strategic agenda and target portfolio structure. The team manages a significant amount of assets in multiple strategies, delivering outperformance for members, while increasing internalisation and reducing external management costs. The team's deep expertise in quantitative research and data management complements both Fundamental and Portfolio construction functions within International Equities. Reporting to the Senior Portfolio Manager, the Portfolio Manager will be responsible for quantitative research on existing and new strategies and day-to-day management of existing investment portfolios. The person would provide leadership in excellence in both research and portfolio management and in guiding and coaching junior members of the team. This is a permanent role based in Melbourne or Sydney ideally. Key responsibilities include: Assisting with the design and implementation of internally managed systematic (quant) portfolios that enable efficient overall portfolio construction; Identifying and leading research projects to enhance existing strategies as well develop new strategies; Providing leadership to members of the systematic investment team with a focus on the development of the quant investment process and infrastructure; Providing domain expertise in the following areas: Assisting with day to day monitoring of portfolio performance and taking appropriate action to ensure performance targets are met; Where applicable advising the broader equities team on quantitative strategies; Ensuring compliance with all portfolio guidelines and processes. What You'll Need Extensive experience in institutional asset management; Quantitative background and experience in building and applying large data sets and disciplined equity investment processes; Experience in systematic equities portfolio construction; Strong people and relationship management skills; Excellent attention to detail; Fluency in Python and familiar with Python data science ecosystem; Solid verbal communications skills; Superior written and oral communication skills; Tertiary and/or postgraduate qualification in Finance, Economics or a Mathematics related field such as engineering. A CFA qualification would be desirable.
