At Killarney Heights High School, we empower students with the knowledge and skills required to thrive academically, vocationally and socially. Through a rounded approach to education which caters to the whole child - the intellectual, the physical and the emotional - we support each student to achieve their full potential, inspiring them to become ethical, creative and compassionate leaders within and beyond their community. The school is establishing an inclusive education class for students with additional learning needs; this will become operational at the commencement of the school year in 2026. A dedicated Wellbeing Team offers all round support to students and is led by a Head Teacher Wellbeing and supported by Counsellors, Year Advisors, a Student Support Officer, Careers Advisor and Learning Support Teachers. The Multi-Categorical class has no more than 10 students at a time, who currently range in age from 12-16. Specific Selection Criteria Approval to teach Special Education and/or experience or interest in teaching students with Autism, mild and moderate intellectual disabilities and complex challenging behaviours, with a strong commitment to and passion in inclusive education. Evidence of exemplary programming and planning to integrate students’ Personalised Learning and Support Plan (PLSP) goals. Demonstrated classroom management skills and capacity to enhance student engagement and participation through planned and evaluated PLSPs that respond to the social, emotional, behavioural, and communication needs of all students. Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills that contribute to a culture of inclusivity through proactive collaboration with students, colleagues, parents/carers, school learning support officers, external agencies and the wider school community. Conditions An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement.
