Role Summary A PDHPE teacher delivers engaging, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate lessons to students from Kindergarten through Year 6. The educator inspires healthy, active lifestyles and nurtures physical, social, and emotional well‑being. Responsibilities include supporting the PDHPE curriculum, coordinating school sports events and teams, and promoting a culture of health, fitness, and teamwork. Location: North Sydney – Fixed Term Contract for Terms 1 and 2, 2026. Key Responsibilities Plan, deliver, and assess engaging PDHPE lessons aligned with the NSW PDHPE syllabus for K‑6. Foster a supportive, inclusive, and active learning environment that encourages participation and personal growth. Teach fundamental movement skills, sports‑specific skills, and fitness concepts for different year levels. Implement effective classroom management strategies that support a safe and positive learning environment. Conduct ongoing assessment, provide constructive feedback, prepare term reports, and communicate with parents. Participate in and contribute to school sporting events, extracurricular sports programmes, and whole‑school activities. Engage in ongoing professional development and contribute to staff professional learning. Organise and oversee school sports events, including tournaments and competitions; coordinate with other schools and clubs. Ideal Candidate Proven experience in teaching physical education and leading sports programmes, preferably in a primary school setting. Skills & Experience Strong organisational skills managing multiple events, teams, and activities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage students, staff, and parents. Demonstrated leadership abilities, particularly in coaching and team management. Knowledge of safety regulations and risk management in school sports. Ability to work collaboratively as part of the PDHPE faculty. Personal Attributes Enthusiastic, energetic, and passionate about sports and physical education. Ability to inspire and motivate students of all abilities. Strong leadership qualities with a focus on teamwork and community. Commitment to promoting health, fitness, and personal well‑being. Resilient, flexible, and able to manage competing demands. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in PDHPE, Physical Education, Sports Science, or equivalent. Relevant teaching qualification (e.g., Bachelor of Education). Accreditation to teach in NSW. Current First Aid and CPR certification. Working with Children Check (WWCC). Additional Requirements Availability to support extracurricular sports activities outside of regular school hours. Willingness to engage in professional development to stay updated with current trends in sports education. Provide lunch & playground cover and assist with pick‑up & drop‑off duties. Availability to attend school events outside regular hours as required.
