Director – Information Technology Management, Strategy and Architecture

Management (Information & Communication Technology)The Director IT Management and Strategy Section (ITMSS) is responsible for leading and managing the core operations as well as the strategic direction and architecture roadmap for information and communications technology (ICT) within the agency. The individual will provide pragmatic IT investment advice to the Executive and manage NHMRC’s core technology platforms to support NHMRC operations through a hybrid of outsourced and internally staffed arrangements.As the Director your duties will include:• Provide leadership and manage ITMS staff and advice and support to staff at all levels, including routine engagement with the Executive• Develop ICT investment business plans, including contributing to NHMRC’s Corporate Planning• Prepare budgets and manage NHMRC’s ICT expenditure• Oversee the development and implementation of approved ICT solutions• Manage NHMRC’s ICT environment, cyber security and services, and relationships with service providers• Foster digitalisation of legacy, analogue processes across NHMRC to leverage cloud-based opportunities, including strengthening NHMRC cyber security culture• Implement whole of government ICT initiatives and policies, and• Engage with other Commonwealth departments and agencies and the wider community as required.The successful candidate will demonstrate the following capabilities:• Good judgement and high-level strategic-thinking skills, including resolution of complex problems• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to develop and write complex briefings and papers effectively and to a consistently high standard• The ability to work with limited direction and flexibly across different projects• The ability to lead teams and manage complex work with tight timeframes• Experience in planning, development and managing outsourced ICT services• Experience in leading and cultivating a positive and productive work environment• Well-developed ICT financial planning, budgeting, and tracking skills• Strong ability to prioritise and deliver high quality results• Experience managing multi-vendor arrangements with the ability to build effective partner relationships• Excellent problem-solving skills• Highly effective negotiation and communication skills and• Strong strategic and contemporary technical skills and awareness including an understanding of emerging technologies and industry trends.To be eligible for this role you must be an Australian citizen and willing to obtain and maintain a security clearance.For more information about NHMRC and the role go to our careers page at National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) is Australia’s leading expert body promoting the development and maintenance of public and individual health standards.NHMRC brings together within a single national organisation the functions of research funding and development of advice.
