Position Title: Head of Learning Area – Arts Department: School of Isolated and Distance Education Location: Leederville Salary: $137,428 – $150,385 per annum (Level 3) Work Type: Permanent Full Time (FTE 1.0) Closing Date: 1 December 2025 4:30 PM AWST The Role As Head of Learning Area – Arts, you will lead the development and delivery of arts education programmes across the School of Isolated and Distance Education. You will manage a diverse team, foster continual improvement, and build partnerships with internal and external stakeholders. You will be responsible for curriculum design, teacher support and oversight of teaching loads. Responsibilities Lead the strategic direction and execution of visual, media, and performing arts curricula. Provide instructional leadership and promote high quality teaching and learning. Foster continual professional development for staff. Build and maintain partnerships with schools, community organisations and industry. Participate in the regional travel programme to support partner schools. Qualifications & Selection Criteria Relevant experience and qualifications to teach one or more arts subjects. Strong knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum and WACE syllabuses in the Arts. Demonstrated capacity to provide effective leadership in diverse educational settings. High level of interpersonal and public relations skills to establish and maintain effective relationships. Professional knowledge and application to achieve high educational outcomes for all students, including Indigenous students, students from diverse backgrounds and students with special needs. Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources. Eligibility Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or holder of a valid visa with work rights for the term of appointment. Registration with the Education Authority of Western Australia. Valid Working With Children Check. Consent to a screening clearance and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number from the Department of Education’s Screening Unit. Application Instructions Apply online.
