About the role CAMHS Forensic Services provides a multidisciplinary (psychiatry, psychology, nursing, social work, occupational therapy and speech pathology) triage, assessment and therapy service to youth aged between 10‑18 years of age who have engaged in criminal behaviour and are involved with the juvenile justice system. In this role, you will provide expert clinical knowledge and or evidence‑based interventions to support the mental health and wellbeing of children and adolescents. Key duties of the role CAMHS Forensic Services consists of voluntary service delivery areas which include: The Secure Care Program provides mental health assessment and intervention services including cultural support to young people in custody in the Kurlana Tapa Adelaide Youth Training Centre (KTAYTC). Support and liaison to young peoples’ families and relevant stakeholders in relation to mental health issues and relevant cultural information is also provided. The Adolescent Sexual Abuse Prevention Program (ASAPP) works with youth who have engaged in sexually harmful behaviours in metropolitan, rural and remote regions of South Australia. ASAPP engages families, caregivers and stakeholders as a component of intervention. Court Reports and Consultation Liaison involves the provision of reports via the Consultant Psychiatrist and Psychologist to the Adelaide Youth Court. Treatment is provided by mental health clinicians and Aboriginal Mental Health Consultants using a multi‑disciplinary team framework and delivered in locations as convenient to the young person’s or family’s needs as practical. Delivering discipline‑specific forensic/clinical assessments using standardised, reliable, and validated psychometric tools (e.g. cognitive, emotional, academic, behavioural, or adaptive functioning), as well as structured clinical interviews to inform professional opinion and recommendations. Preparing clear, concise written reports that communicate findings and recommendations effectively to consumers and professionals, in line with organisational policy. Building strong internal and external partnerships, using clinical psychology expertise to ensure optimal client outcomes through a multi‑disciplinary approach. Working collaboratively with consumers to develop individual care and treatment plans within a recovery‑oriented framework. Promoting access and equity of services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Acting as a consultant and resource to CAMHS, partner agencies, and the broader community by providing education and guidance on child, adolescent, and family mental health. Skills and Experience A degree in Psychology or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Psychology Board of Australia. General registration with the Psychology Board of Australia, with endorsement in Clinical Psychology. Approved supervisor status with the Psychology Board of Australia for both primary and secondary supervision. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a multi‑disciplinary team and facilitate group functions. Extensive clinical experience delivering mental health psychology services to children and adolescents. Advanced skills in the application of evidence‑based clinical modalities relevant to child and adolescent mental health. In‑depth knowledge and expertise in at least one specialist area of clinical practice within the child and adolescent mental health field.
