Miwatj Health Aboriginal Corporation are seeking a Regional Clinical Educator to plan, coordinate, facilitate, evaluate and support Miwatj Health’s clinical learning and clinical workforce development initiatives and activities for Nurses, Midwives and Aboriginal Health Practitioners including trainees. The role will deliver training in the context of rural and isolated practice. This is a full time, permanent role based in Darwin or Nhulunbuy with regular travel to East Arnhem Region. Established in 1992, we’re committed to providing quality services across East Arnhem Land and enabling Yolŋu powered community health and wellbeing. Miwatj provides culturally appropriate, comprehensive primary and public health for over 6,000 residents of this remote landscape. With a Head Office in Nhulunbuy, and a Corporate Office in Darwin, our delivery is focused on 7 health centres across East Arnhem Land and dedicated outreach teams who travel to additional locations. What we’re looking for in you The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to Aboriginal Community Control and self‑determination, with a deep understanding of the challenges faced by Yolngu people in remote settings. Candidates should hold current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) with at least 5 years clinical experience. They should have experience as a Clinical Educator, educator and / or in the planning, coordination, facilitation and support of workforce learning and development initiatives, activities and strategies. The Core Functions of Miwatj Health are: The provision of clinical services to Aboriginal communities in the East Arnhem Land region, including both acute care and longer‑term preventive care Implementation of a range of population/public health programs and strategies which address the underlying causes of illness Advocacy in support of the right of Aboriginal people to control their own health services and for such health services to receive resources and funding adequate to address the health problems of the region Ensuring efficient, accountable administrative and financial systems support for the delivery of our services. The underlying philosophy of Miwatj Health is the fundamental right of Aboriginal people to control their own health services.
