Deputy Director Navy Doctrine

The EL1 Deputy Director Navy Doctrine is responsible for management of Navy contribution to Australian Defence Force (ADF) Joint Doctrine. Within this role, you will be responsible for:
Representing Navy in joint doctrine fora;Coordinating Navy input into joint doctrine publications and policy;Coordinating advice to Chief of Navy (CN), through Chief of Staff Navy Headquarters (COSNHQ) and Deputy Chief of Navy (DCN), on the subjects Navy should develop doctrine as part of the joint doctrine framework;Support to and oversight of authors for CN sponsored doctrine, including Navy Reserve workforce management; andAdvice to Director Navy Strategic Policy Implementation (DNSPI) on management of resources required for the production of CN sponsored doctrine.Applicants need to demonstrate their skills and experience related to the functions indicated above or similar at a Departmental/Organisational level.
About our TeamThe Navy Strategic Plans and Preparedness Team are located within Navy Headquarters and supports Deputy Chief of Navy (DCN) with the effective management of Navy Strategy, Plans and Concepts.
NSPP Branch is accountable for the following actions:
Lead the establishment and coordination of Defence Strategic Review (DSR) implementation for Navy.Formulate the Navy's Maritime Domain Concepts and Strategies, maintaining alignment with key stakeholders that support Navy's strategic activities.Represent Navy equities at strategic fora.Lead the Navy Experimentation and Wargaming Plan and manage Navy's input into the Joint Force Design processLead Navy Mobilisation and Preparedness requirements, aligned to the Defence's Mobilisation and Preparedness frameworkLead the Enhanced Maritime Cooperation (EMC) initiatives of the United States Force Posture Initiative programProvide decision support to Navy's Senior Leadership Group (SLG) on strategy, plans and preparednessAssure and report performance and compliance with Defence and Navy policy and regulatory requirementsManage CN sponsored Joint Doctrine; represent Navy equities in Joint Doctrine; advice to CN on what doctrine they should sponsor; and draft/author and consult CN sponsored doctrine.Support Divisional priorities and decisions in line with strategic goals and objectives

Strong understanding of Joint and Service Doctrine frameworks.Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.Demonstrated ability to read, write and interpret doctrine at an Executive Level.Demonstrated ability to develop and implement management and initiatives that drive business outcomes.Strong management skills, with the ability to manage multiple portfolios simultaneously.Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills at the strategic level.
