Senior Legal Counsel (Gambling / Regulatory) Join Dabble as a Senior Legal Counsel (Gambling / Regulatory) to provide expert legal and regulatory advice ensuring compliance with Australian gambling laws, including the Interactive Gambling Act, state‑based betting regulations, AML/CTF compliance, privacy laws, and other relevant frameworks. Primary Location Open to all locations within Australia; candidates based in Melbourne or Brisbane are preferred. Responsibilities Provide legal and regulatory advice on Australian gambling laws and AML/CTF compliance. Develop and implement compliance strategies for safer gambling, consumer protection, and privacy. Oversee AML/CTF processes: customer due diligence, KYC, and suspicious matter reporting to AUSTRAC. Ensure adherence to the Privacy Act and Australian Privacy Principles, including data handling, retention, and breach response. Monitor regulatory changes, update policies, and advise on impact. Prepare and submit regulatory reports, notifications, and licence applications to ACMA, state regulators, and AUSTRAC. Provide legal advice on contracts, commercial agreements, and corporate governance. Assist in regulatory investigations, disputes, or litigation involving Australian operations. Other Areas of Focus Internal team support Training and awareness Strategic communication & issue management Skills & Qualifications Experience in gambling, sports betting, or highly regulated industries. In‑depth knowledge of Australian gambling regulations, AML/CTF compliance, and privacy laws. Proven ability to manage high‑stakes regulatory projects and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment. Exceptional analytical, problem‑solving, negotiation, and communication skills. High ethical standards and commitment to fostering a culture of compliance. Education Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent and admission to practice as a lawyer in Australia. Experience 6–10+ years of post‑qualification experience focused on gambling law, regulatory compliance, or related fields (e.g., financial services, consumer law). Attributes Proactive, detail‑oriented, and adaptable to a hyper‑evolving regulatory landscape. Balance strategic oversight with hands‑on legal work.
