Pastoral Care is where people actively engage in friendship with others to help them in their life's journey. A pastoral care volunteer offers a friendship that is intentionally focusing on emotional support and spiritual care. What You'll be Doing Visiting residents on a one on one basis Encouraging residents to attend group discussions Reporting directly to the Chaplain Why This Matters At Bethanie we see Pastoral Care as a vitally important service that our skilled volunteers assist the Chaplaincy team to provide. Pastoral Care volunteers make a connection with residents through active listening, discussion and care. The Best Bit Through regular ongoing visits, you will establish wonderful new friendships with residents, as well as the staff and volunteer team. You will be guided in your role by the site's Chaplaincy team and Bethanie's Volunteer Services team also provide ongoing support. About You You are compassionate with strong communication skills. Pastoral Care Helpers require active participation in, and recognition from, a church community with a willingness to operate within Bethanies theological approach, founded in the teaching of Churches of Christ. Record of having 1x COVID-19 vaccination for applicants aged 18+, unless medically‑exempt and willingness to undertake the 2025 influenza vaccination, unless medically‑exempt. For Bethanie Fields and Elanora, volunteers are required to complete the National Disability Insurance Scheme - Worker Orientation. All volunteers attend an on-site induction prior to commencement of the role. Category : Community Services Commitment : Regular - more than 6 months Type Of Work : Companionship & Social Support, Seniors & Aged Care Time Required : Days and times can be flexible depending on the availability of the volunteers.
