Your role in our team As our new Advanced Systems Engineer, you will join a groundbreaking, multi‑year defense R&D initiative shaping the next‑generation European Naval Combat System. You will be involved in a wide variety of tasks, including combat systems architecture, survivability analysis, system modeling, and countermeasure integration. You will collaborate with experts across multiple domains, ranging from hardware and software development to Machine Learning, and contribute to the project as it evolves. In this role, you will be part of a strategic European defense initiative, working in a supportive environment with experienced mentors, gaining exposure to cutting‑edge systems engineering and software development, and participating in collaborative efforts across the European industrial and academic ecosystem. Your contributions will play a key part in long‑term innovation that enhances European security and technological resilience. How you will make a meaningful contribution You will work flexibly across several of the following domains and areas. Your key responsibilities include: Combat System Definition: Support system‑of‑systems analysis, requirements modelling, and architecture definition Survivability & Coordination: Contribute to defining cross‑domain survivability needs (susceptibility, vulnerability, recoverability) and help coordinate systems integration Software & CMS Services: Assist with defining service‑oriented architectures using modern design methodologies Countermeasures & Sensors: Analyze potential countermeasure deployment strategies, sensor integration, and threat modelling Systems Modeling & Documentation: Help create visual and textual models of system behaviour using tools like Codebeamer Collaboration: Participate in design reviews, team planning sessions, and workshops with internal and external stakeholders Bring your world‑class expertise into play You are fluent in English both in writing and verbal at a professional level. Danish is an advantage but not a requirement. Moreover, we are also looking for a new colleague with the following qualifications: An advanced degree (MsC or PhD) is required in one or more of the following: Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science/Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace/Naval architecture, Physics or Applied Mathematics, or relevant field Interest in defense systems, naval platforms, or combat systems Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills Ability to work in interdisciplinary teams Good technical writing and documentation skills Willingness to work across disciplines and adapt to evolving project needs The following skills and interests are preferred, but not required: Exposure to systems modelling or architectural frameworks Experience in Modeling Based Systems Engineering Programming or scripting experience (e.g., Java, Python, MATLAB) Knowledge of survivability concepts or electronic warfare basics Interest in AI/ML applications in defense or automation Experience using simulation or design tools (e.g., Enterprise Architect, Simulink) Project management skills or experiences As a person, you are curious, analytical, and motivated by complex technical challenges. You take a structured approach to your work, enjoy exploring new domains and technologies, and thrive in interdisciplinary teams where collaboration and knowledge sharing drive stronger solutions.
