FY26: Teacher, Special Education (LAD), Newport Mill 1.0 FTE Montgomery County Public Schools is seeking a special education teacher for Newport Mill Middle School in Kensington. Summary Under the direction of the school principal and special education supervisor, the teacher will provide direct instruction and instructional support to students with disabilities, collaborate with general education teachers, monitor and evaluate student outcomes, assist in the development of Individualized Education Programs (IEP) and support behavioral interventions. The role requires attendance at school meetings, programs, and activities outside instructional day, and completion of specific courses provided by MCPS including nonviolent crisis interventions. Job Specific Information Salary: $64,591 – $131,472 Organization: Newport Mill Middle School Primary Location: Kensington Schedule: Full-time (Day Job) Working Months: 10 Shift: Day Job Job Posting Date: Dec 5, 2025 Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of MCPS curriculum and special education program Thorough knowledge of IEP, learning theory, differentiated instruction, data collection, best instructional practices, research‑based reading instruction, multicultural education, and assessments Strong communication skills and ability to adapt instructional programs and materials Knowledge of ESSA 2015, IDEA 2004, and state/federal policies related to special education Ability to provide instructional support in collaboration with teachers and parents/guardians Knowledge of and application of the six performance standards for MCPS Teacher Professional Growth System Education, Training & Experience Bachelor’s degree in special education (or related field) Fluent in learning theory, differentiated instruction, developmental reading, child development, applied behavior analysis, and assessment Student teaching or 2 years teaching experience at the assigned level (elementary or secondary) Meet Maryland State Department of Education Standard Professional Certification I (SPC I) in special education; certification in a content area desirable Seniority Level Entry level Employment Type Full-time Job Function Education and Training Primary and Secondary Education #J-18808-Ljbffr
