The primary focus is applying automation (Ansible) skills for system deployment and configuration on Linux (RHEL) and Linux‑like operating systems. Contract & Location This is a 2‑year fixed‑term contract, based in a hybrid (3 days in office / 2 days from home) setting at our Melbourne CBD office. Key Responsibilities Manage and maintain on‑premises virtualization platforms, including RHEV, OpenShift, and KVM‑based environments. Ensure performance, availability, security, monitoring, and documentation across all supported Linux and virtualization systems. Provide daily operational support by responding to incidents, troubleshooting issues, and coordinating with vendors for resolution. Automate and streamline infrastructure operations using tools such as Ansible, Python, PowerCLI, Postman, and REST APIs. Contribute to modernisation and reliability efforts through high‑availability solutions, hybrid‑cloud integration, and infrastructure‑as‑code practices. Ideal Qualifications Solid experience with the Red Hat Linux Operating Systems, including Kernel configuration, driver packages, performance tuning, hardening, and automation. (OpenShift / Proxmox highly desirable) Experience with automation tools (Ansible, Python, or similar). Experience working on storage systems (NetAPP or similar). CI/CD experience with technologies such as Jenkins, Travis, and Octopus. Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Perl, YAML, and Shell. Familiarity with a wide range of computer and networking hardware, preferably HP, Cisco, and Lenovo. Knowledge of network protocols and principles such as TCP/IP and VLANs. Solid understanding of hardware integration and testing processes. Strong communication skills with the ability to work within a close‑knit team. Security Clearance A Defence security clearance is required for this role. Applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an appropriate clearance. The Australian Defence Trade Controls Act (DTCA) is applicable and your nationality may affect suitability. Individuals with a current clearance from a foreign government may be eligible for recognition by the Australian Government.
