Overview Assistant Development Manager role at NSW Department of Communities and Justice. Location – Parramatta Employment type – temporary up till June 2028 Salary – GR 7/8 $113,574 - $125,720 plus superannuation About Homes NSW Homes NSW is a division of the Department of Communities and Justice. It brings together the housing and homelessness functions of the Department of Communities and Justice, the NSW Land and Housing Corporation, Aboriginal Housing Office and key worker housing functions from across government all under one roof. Homes NSW leads work to deliver more social and affordable housing, end the cycle of homelessness, and deliver quality public housing to our 262,000 tenants across NSW. Your role The Assistant Development Manager will work as part of the Portfolio Delivery Southern NSW Regional Team, and reports to a Senior Development Manager. The role facilitates and coordinates development-focused activities within the Homes NSW Portfolio Delivery-South team whose projects are located in Campbelltown, the Illawarra, the Shoalhaven, the Riverina and other Southern NSW regional areas. The role includes overall development management of new Class 1, 2 and 3 Residential Houses/Buildings and management of Major Urban/Residential Renewal projects involving civil and building management tasks such as meeting coordination, project viability assessment, project planning/programming, and end-to-end development and financial control of projects. The role assists in establishing project briefs, monitoring strategy, timelines, budgets, risk and issues management to achieve project objectives. Your role will include, but is not limited to, assisting the Development Manager, Senior Development Manager and Director to: Drive a culture of collaboration by establishing and proactively coordinating activities across delivery teams. Manage positive working relationships with project stakeholders, including business partners, contractors, external consultants, builders, civil contractors, Councils and other Government and Services Agencies. Analyse, advise on, review and determine project and program risks, issues, and mitigation strategies to ensure the Projects division meets its obligations. Facilitate monitoring, reporting and coordination of governance arrangements to ensure financial, cost, time and quality of planning, approvals and project implementation. What We’re Looking For Formal qualifications and relevant experience in Civil engineering, property economics, construction management, property development or a relevant business discipline with at least 3-5 years post-graduate experience working on residential development projects. The role may involve travel both locally and regionally (within NSW), including overnight travel, as required by the business and/or directed. Awareness of the policy, process and relevant statutory requirements that underpin property development and construction. Demonstrated project management skills and experience. Demonstrated analytical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills and ability to synthesize complex information. Demonstrated strong communication skillsets.
