If you want to help shape the future of Frankston, now is the time to join our team About the position Council’s Development Services Department is seeking an Environmental Health Officer for a 12‑month fixed‑term position. The successful candidate will be responsible for protecting public health within the community by monitoring and enforcing legislative requirements in accordance with the Food Act 1984, Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008, Environment Protection Act 2017, and Tobacco Act 1987. Conduct inspections, review plans and facilitate the registration of premises, and undertake routine surveillance of registered premises to ensure compliance under the provisions of the Food Act 1984 and Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008; Manage the investigation of infectious disease outbreaks as directed by the Department of Health; Conduct education and enforcement activities, and investigations in line with the requirements of the Tobacco Act 1987 and Environment Protection Act 2017; and Provide professional, timely and accurate advice in relation to all matters under the responsibility of Environmental Health and maintain a high‑quality service in the delivery of Council’s Environmental Health activities. About you Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to prepare reports, briefs of evidence, statutory notices and documents; Demonstrated knowledge of all legislation including Food Act 1984, Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008, Environment Protection Act 2017, and Tobacco Act 1987 and associated regulations relating to Public and Environmental Health; Relevant Tertiary qualification in Environmental Health or equivalent; Ability to work autonomously and draw upon previous experience and knowledge to effectively manage their work on a day‑to‑day basis; and Demonstrated experience working in a Public and Environmental Health environment. Overtime will also be paid as required.
