About the Role Reporting to the Head of Operations, the Regional Manager Operations will lead a team to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient delivery of rail haulage services across the regional Northwest NSW portfolio. Accountable for leading and developing a large operational team focused on operational excellence and safety, that consistently meets and exceeds customer expectations and business objectives. You will be responsible for: Leading and overseeing operational execution in one of Pacific National’s largest and complex regions. Designing and implementing regional operational strategies to enhance safety, service performance, and efficiency. Building and maintaining operational relationships with customers to support business strategy, growth, and operational success. Developing leadership capability and fostering a culture of collaboration across the business. Driving key initiatives to improve efficiency, resource utilization, and cost-effectiveness. Engaging with regulatory bodies, external partners, and unions to ensure compliance and operational excellence. Managing workforce planning to ensure resources are in place to meet customer demand. About You To be successful in this role, you will have proven leadership experience in a complex operational environment. You will be a strategic thinker with a passion for continuous improvement and operational excellence. In addition, to be successful in this role you will need: Experience in managing complex operations, ideally in freight or heavy industry. The confidence and ability to have challenging conversations. Strong understanding of planned operations and service delivery. Proven ability to lead teams, drive performance, and foster an engaged workforce. Excellent contract management and negotiation skills. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills at all levels. Analytical mindset with problem-solving skills and a high degree of initiative. Tertiary qualification in Business, Engineering, Logistics, or a related field advantageous.
