About the Role This is a hands‑on cooking role within a busy commercial kitchen environment. The successful candidate will prepare and cook dishes to consistent standards, assist with daily food production, and adhere to safe food handling practices. The position requires the ability to perform efficiently during peak service periods and contribute positively to a collaborative team environment. Responsibilities Prepare and cook a range of Malaysian, Singaporean, Chinese and Australian style dishes according to restaurant recipes and standards. Season and adjust ingredients to achieve consistent taste, quality and presentation. Prepare ingredients such as chopping, cutting, marinating and portioning prior to service. Operate commercial kitchen equipment including woks, grills, steamers, deep fryers and ovens safely and efficiently. Monitor cooking times and workflow to ensure timely service during peak periods. Assist with stock rotation, maintaining stock levels and minimising wastage. Maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen workstation in accordance with HACCP and council regulations. Follow safe food handling procedures, temperature control and kitchen hygiene practices at all times. Work cooperatively with kitchen and front‑of‑house teams to ensure smooth service and customer satisfaction. Maintain kitchen equipment in good working condition and report any maintenance needs. Qualifications Minimum 1 year experience as a Cook in a busy commercial kitchen environment. Experience or exposure to Asian cuisine techniques preferred (Malaysian, Singaporean, Chinese). Completed Commercial Cookery in Australia (or equivalent qualification). Ability to follow standardised recipes and produce consistent quality dishes. Knowledge of food safety, hygiene practices and safe kitchen operations. Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and perform well under pressure. Strong teamwork, communication and time management skills. Flexible availability including weekends and public holidays as required.
