Accounting Assistant

SocialPro is an Australian SaaS platform helping major infrastructure projects track and report Social Procurement outcomes. We work with large construction companies, renewable energy operators and government agencies to streamline compliance and deliver real social impact. As a small, fast-moving team, we operate with clarity, accountability, and a strong focus on quality. This role is designed for someone who wants to grow their practical accounting and finance skills while contributing to a real operating business. Alternatively, it could suit someone currently working in industry as a side hustle. Role Description You will support our Finance and Strategy function with accurate, timely and detail-oriented accounting and administrative work. You’ll get exposure across accounting, reporting, forecasting and financial strategy, and you’ll work directly with the CEO and external advisors. This is a part-time, flexible role suited to a motivated student who is keen to learn, take ownership, and build real experience. Key Responsibilities Financial Operations Prepare and process monthly payroll Issue monthly customer invoices Manage debtor and creditor workflows, including follow-ups and banking Maintain organised financial records and supporting documentation Accounting Support Assist with month-end close activities and simple balance sheet reconciliations Support preparation of management reports and financial dashboards Track and provide timely input into forecasting and performance Compliance & Controls Assist with BAS/IAS preparation and review Support standard business compliance activities Follow internal processes and contribute to improving them About You Currently studying Accounting, Finance or Commerce (2nd or 3rd year preferred) Strong attention to detail and organisation Confident with Excel (SUMIFS, VLOOKUP, pivot tables) Familiarity with Xero or willingness to learn quickly Strong communication skills and a proactive approach Interest in accounting and finance within a real operating business rather than just textbook theory Interest in supporting growth of a tech startup What You’ll Gain Hands-on experience across accounting, reporting, forecasting and financial strategy Exposure to SaaS finance operations and a high-growth startup Flexible work hours built around your schedule Clear guidance, autonomy and opportunities for ongoing development Seniority level Internship Employment type Part-time Job function Accounting/Auditing and Finance Industries Software Development Referrals increase your chances of interviewing at SocialPro by 2x #J-18808-Ljbffr
