About the Opportunity Due to ongoing organisational growth, Central Australian Women’s Legal Service (CAWLS) has a position available for a full‑time Women’s Safety and Support Officer to join our team in Alice Springs, NT, on a 1‑year contract which may be extended. The Women’s Safety and Support Educator will work within the Education Team to develop and deliver tailored, ongoing and scaffolded education and professional development and support to frontline staff within partner services to identify and respond to disclosures of domestic, family and sexual violence (DFSV) and child sexual abuse (CSA). The Educator will contribute significantly to design, development and the provision of secondary consultation support to partner primary health services in relation to identification of DFSV and CSA, risk assessment and risk management, including supporting partner services to develop tailored immediate safety plans and facilitate access to/referrals to ongoing support within CAWLS, and other appropriate organisations. The Educator may carry a caseload focusing on high‑risk First Nations women requiring additional support to connect to services to assist with ongoing case management and access to supports across housing, health, family violence, family reunification, linking with culturally appropriate services, community integration, and financial issues. The position includes the provision of outreach services to partner organisations, some clients and involvement in community development and awareness‑raising activities. About You To qualify, you will need to hold a relevant tertiary qualification in social work or an equivalent discipline, and/or experience as a social worker or equivalent. Along with a professional registration as a Social Worker (or the ability to obtain it). Additionally, the following skills and background: Demonstrated understanding of the dynamics of domestic, family and sexual violence as it affects women and children. Demonstrated commitment to reducing barriers to access to justice for disadvantaged groups, particularly women and children at risk of experiencing domestic, family and sexual violence. Demonstrated ability to draw on experience working with client groups who may be reluctant to disclose legal issues or domestic, family and sexual violence. Experience as an adult educator and/or facilitator with excellent public speaking skills; Ability to work collaboratively with legal practitioners and other relevant services to provide a case‑coordinated service to women with complex needs. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills including the ability to highly motivated, with the ability to work well under pressure and prioritise competing demands. Demonstrated ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively in a team environment. Personal commitment to reflection and self‑care to build resilience and minimise the impact of vicarious trauma. Strong administrative skills, including good time management, excellent written and oral skills and confidence with the MS Office applications and MS Excel. The position is offered as a four day per week (30 hours) or a full‑time position (37.5 hours). Out of hours work will occasionally be required as some training may need to be delivered in the evening. In addition, from time to time, there are meetings, workshops and functions that may be held outside of hours. Please note: This is a female‑identified position under Sections 30 and 34 of the Sex Discrimination Act 1984. You must also hold (or be eligible to obtain) a current NT Driver’s Licence, Ochre Card, and National Police Check.
