Logistics Transport Coordinator

The Transport Coordinator is responsible for managing and executing day-to-day domestic transport and distribution operations across metropolitan and regional networks. This role ensures that customer delivery requirements, contractual obligations, and service KPIs are consistently met through effective coordination between customers, carriers, and internal teams. The position plays a key role in overseeing dispatch, freight movements, carrier communication, invoicing accuracy, and service reporting to drive operational excellence and customer satisfaction. The Transport Coordinator will proactively manage delivery schedules, investigate service exceptions, and implement corrective measures to prevent future disruptions. This role requires a strong understanding of transport operations, cost control, and carrier management to support continuous improvement and profitability within the Contract Logistics division. The Transport Coordinator will work closely with the State Transport Manager and Contract Manager to ensure seamless service execution, compliance with Chain of Responsibility (CoR), and adherence to Quality, Safety, Health & Environment (QSHE) standards. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Coordinate and oversee day-to-day logistics and transport operations across metropolitan and regional areas, ensuring all deliveries meet customer service levels and contractual KPIs. Liaise daily with customers, carriers, and internal stakeholders to maintain transparent communication and proactively address delivery delays, claims, or exceptions. Monitor carrier performance, investigate DIFOT and service failure variances, and implement corrective actions to maintain operational excellence. Process freight cost analysis, invoice reconciliation, and weekly financial reporting to ensure billing accuracy and cost control. Maintain compliance with JAS Chain of Responsibility (CoR), QSHE, and regulatory requirements to ensure operational safety and integrity. Support the Contract Manager and State Transport Manager with reporting, KPI dashboards, and continuous improvement initiatives. Manage claims, shortages, damages, and returns, ensuring all discrepancies are resolved and recorded accurately. Drive consistent improvement through forecasting analysis, root cause reporting, and alignment with carrier capacity planning. Partner with customer service teams to ensure timely issue resolution, professional communication, and high customer satisfaction. Facilitate weekly toolbox meetings, operational briefings, and performance reviews to promote a culture of safety, accountability, and collaboration. Identify operational inefficiencies and recommend process enhancements to drive performance and profitability. Ensure that all distribution documentation, including manifests, reports, and carrier invoices, is processed accurately and within required timelines. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES May provide direction and operational guidance to logistics support staff or carrier representatives as required. Maintain effective communication across logistics teams to ensure service consistency and operational alignment. QUALIFICATIONS Strong knowledge of domestic transport operations and carrier management across multiple modes (FTL, LCL, Express, E-commerce, Metro, and General Freight). Proven track record in coordinating dispatch operations and meeting customer delivery KPIs. Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to build trusted relationships with customers and carriers. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis and performance reporting. Strong commercial acumen, analytical thinking, and ability to manage multiple priorities with accuracy and urgency. Exceptional communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills with a customer-focused mindset. Understanding of Chain of Responsibility, QHSE compliance, and risk management principles. Willingness to work in a dynamic environment with a focus on continuous improvement and operational discipline. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or Business Administration preferred. Minimum 3 years’ experience in local transport coordination, dispatch management, or logistics operations. Previous exposure to large-scale carrier networks and complex freight operations is desirable within 3PL.
