Located 30km west of Sydney, the Smithfield RSL Club is a large established entertainment venue built on strong relationships with its members and its local community. The Club has undergone a Modern Contemporary refurbishment, supporting an upgraded gaming room, ultramodern TAB & Sporting lounge, stunning Bar & lounge areas and great restaurants & function facilities. Smithfield RSL is looking for hands‑on, highly motivated & experienced individuals to take on Casual positions in basic cooking and kitchen hand duties in our busy "Table2164" & "Mex it up" kitchens. In this role you will assist our kitchen team with food preparation, make basic meals, operate equipment, keep the kitchens clean and ensure our kitchens are efficient during service. This role is best suited for individuals that have experience in a café or commercial food environment dealing with day‑to‑day operations of a kitchen, food safety and service. Reporting directly to the Executive Chef and Management team, you will be required to take a hands‑on approach in the back‑of‑house kitchen operations as well as deliver the highest quality of food and service our customers expect. Training will be provided to all successful candidates. What we need from you: A good understanding of kitchen operations. Experience in a commercial kitchen is preferred but not necessary. The ability to work in a fast‑paced environment team. Excellent interpersonal, listening and communication skills. Your presentation & hygiene must be impeccable. You must have a passion for making food and delivering exceptional services. You must have excellent communication skills both written & verbal. You must be self‑motivated and have the ability to work unsupervised to meet operational requirements. You must have a good understanding of food safety & WHS principles. Current tertiary qualifications in food safety & hospitality is preferred, but not essential. Flexibility to work a variety of shifts over a 7 day cycle, including weekends, night shifts, split shifts, & public holidays.
