The Role We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) – Mental Health to join our team. This senior nursing role provides clinical leadership, advanced practice expertise, and guidance to ensure the highest standards of patient care. Key responsibilities Providing advanced clinical assessment, intervention, and consultation for complex mental health presentations Leading and mentoring nursing staff to build capability and confidence in mental health care Collaborating with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and allied health professionals Driving quality improvement initiatives and evidence‑based practice within the clinic Contributing to service development and innovation in mental health care delivery Qualifications Demonstrated leadership skills and proven ability to manage and coordinate the clinical activities of a multidisciplinary adult inpatient mental health team, including assistance to NUM/ADON in effective management of resources. Demonstrated specialist level knowledge and advanced practice in acute inpatient psychiatry, including ability to provide a range of assessments and specialist treatments and interventions. Ability to effectively undertake a consultation and leadership role within a multidisciplinary adult inpatient setting, providing supervision and support to other staff as required. Appointment details Permanent, part‑time day‑worker position, working 16 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible. Hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant. Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full‑time, part‑time, and casual vacancies. Salary $114,851 to $121,886 per annum (pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount. Salary range is in accordance with the Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023. Allowances: Post‑Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type. Salary packaging and benefits Living expenses up to $9,010 and $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year, plus other benefits if eligible. Travel and relocation assistance support up to $10,000 for appointees from interstate. Professional development and accelerated pathways. Eligibility Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse. Holds, or is working towards, a relevant postgraduate qualification. Current driver’s licence.
