The Role These site‑based Diesel Mechanic positions are located in Rio Tinto's mine workshop. Your work will include: Machine Rebuild Program – Rebuilding Caterpillar mining equipment (D11R/T, 777E/F/G, 992G, 993K). Scheduled Servicing & Repairs – Maintain fleet reliability and peak performance. Advanced Diagnostics – Troubleshoot and resolve complex Caterpillar machinery issues. Air‑Conditioning Repairs – Maintain operator comfort and equipment functionality. Air‑Conditioning Experience Required – Minimum 1-2 years air‑conditioning repair experience required. Breakdown Response – Minimise downtime with fast, effective solutions. What We're Looking For Qualifications & Licences: Diesel Mechanic Trade Certificate with minimum 4 years post‑apprenticeship experience . Valid driver's licence (HR/HC preferred). Forklift licence. Rigger's ticket (or willingness to obtain before start date). Rigger's ticket must be held at the time of application. Experience & Skills: At least 5 years working with Caterpillar mining equipment (D11R/T, 777E/F/G). Proven experience in machine rebuild programs preferably on above machines. Strong troubleshooting skills in high‑pressure environments. Ability to work autonomously while maintaining high standards. Personal Qualities: High attention to detail and pride in workmanship. Neat presentation and organised work habits. Adaptable, solution‑focused, and safety‑driven. Additional: Must pass a pre‑employment medical including drug and alcohol screening. Must be an Australian or New Zealand resident with valid work rights.
