Senior Commissioning Engineer - Signalling Function Tester Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic, self‑motivated Senior Commissioning Engineer – Signalling Function Tester who thrives in a fast‑paced environment. The successful candidate will carry out a wide range of tasks, from administrative to strategic, and will be based in Brisbane, Australia . Key Accountabilities Participate in the testing and commissioning of primarily wayside signalling with elements of on‑board, communications and control systems in accordance with the commissioning procedures. Perform factory and site testing as required. Participate in fault identification during set‑to‑work activities and during commissioning. Support the engineering team by correlating existing installations to verify that design inputs match the installation. Set to work, test and commission signalling equipment. Verify the design against wiring diagrams, equipment layouts and signalling plans. Conduct testing to approved test procedures. Load and verify software configuration. Support the commissioning manager or delegate in ensuring the timely production of test plans, procedures and reports at the project level. Support the commissioning manager or delegate in the continuous improvement of project documentation. Support V&V activities. Support the construction team where required, including wiring and termination of signalling equipment (on‑board trains, trackside, communications locations or control centres) and installation of signalling equipment and cables for on‑board, trackside, communications and control centre applications. Attend project progress meetings as and when required. Ensure that test and commissioning activities are executed in alignment with the company and project work‑health and safety requirements. Support the functional manager in evaluating the performance of assigned resources, identifying the need for additional resources with project justification and identifying training needs. Key Knowledge and Experience Electrical trade qualification, CERT IV in railway signalling or IRSE Functional Testers Licence is essential. Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a similar field is desirable. 5‑10 years’ experience in a similar role in the rail signal industry with demonstrated capability in railway equipment and environment, signalling circuitry, use of test equipment (digital and analog multimeters, insulation meters, etc.), computer‑based test software, Microsoft Office Suite, incident/accident investigation, ERP and configuration management tools, database tools, tendering process, budgeting and cost estimation.
