Key Purpose of the Role Apply modern software engineering practices to develop world‑class solutions for ASX’s customers in a cross‑functional, agile environment. Your Team This role focuses on Derivatives Clearing within Markets Technology, delivering software for ASX’s Exchange Traded Derivatives (ETD) Clearing Platform. You will lead a team of software, integration and quality engineers, providing technical leadership for the product system underpinning the ETD clearing business. Your Responsibilities Develop and deliver software solutions to support ASX’s clearing customers. Coach and provide line management for a small team of engineers. Ensure CI/CD design and engineering processes adhere to engineering standards and controls. Participate actively in the Markets Technology engineering team. Collaborate with engineers across the group to streamline the software delivery lifecycle (SDLC) through automation such as CI/CD. Work with test leaders to embed best practices into the CI/CD process. Communicate effectively across teams and motivate the broader team. Engage as a member of the Solution Engineering Community of Practice (CoP). Act as a proactive business partner with stakeholders in the Financial Markets business, leading the development of product roadmaps for large‑scale transformation initiatives and incremental enhancements. Your Experience and Qualifications Must Have Proficient in Java software development, including architecture patterns and APIs. Experience developing APIs and cloud‑based solutions (AWS), especially micro‑service architectures (Java, Spring Boot, EKS, Confluent Kafka). Delivered major programs in a complex, agile environment; capital markets domain experience essential. Experienced with enterprise CI/CD capabilities and tools, guiding best practices. Understanding of cloud engineering principles, including IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS, preferably in AWS. Knowledge of containerisation concepts and implementation considerations. Experience with complex data structures and semi‑structured data (JSON, XML). Experience with Design Governance and the end‑to‑end software design process across large programs. Curiosity and compassion. Business acumen in Enterprise Risk and Derivatives product life‑cycle. Leadership experience with coaching and mentoring direct and indirect reports. Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. Nice to Have AWS or GCP Cloud Engineering, DevOps, or Architecture certifications. Understanding of Cloud Native frameworks and landscape. Experience in highly regulated environments with compliance and audit activities. Experience in Java 8+ and related toolchains (Gradle, Spring Boot 2.7+). Experience with CI/CD tools such as GoCD, GitLab, Cloud Build, or CodeBuild. Experience developing Data APIs (REST, GraphQL, gRPC). Experience building Docker container‑based services. Understanding challenges of deploying and running solutions in different environments.
