Introduction St Paul’s Primary School, Gateshead is seeking 2 Temporary Part‑time Learning Support Assistants (1 x 19.25 hrs per week & 1 x 16 hrs per week) to start January 2026 for a 12‑month term. St Paul’s is a Catholic systemic school in the Diocese of Maitland‑Newcastle, catering to students from Kindergarten to Year 6. The school provides a contemporary, future‑thinking education for children from Redhead, Dudley, Whitebridge, Charlestown East, Mount Hutton and Gateshead. Description Learning Support Assistants support teachers in ensuring each child has the opportunity to grow academically and spiritually, contributing to a faith‑filled educational experience. Support teachers in inviting students and their families into a faith‑filled experience. Promote the school as a place of learning and excellence, nurturing creativity, curiosity, and deep learning. Assist with school routines, classroom activities, and care of students with disability. Skills and Experiences Required: Clear understanding of and personal commitment to Catholic education and the mission of the Church. Experience working with students with disability (K–12). Ability to work under a teacher’s direction and collaboratively with school staff, CSO staff, and external stakeholders. Skill in administering assessments, delivering interventions, and implementing adjustments for individual students and groups. Experience supporting student enrolment and transitions. Knowledge of relevant Disability legislation and the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data. Excellent organisational, interpersonal and administrative skills. Qualifications Current paid NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC) number. Completion of anaphylaxis training. Certificate III or IV in School‑Based Education Support, or equivalent experience (desirable). Conditions of Employment Salary is in accordance with the New South Wales & Australian Capital Territory Catholic Systemic Schools Enterprise Agreement 2023.
