Openings for both junior and senior, full, or permanent part-time orthodontic assistants have recently come up at our small but growing orthodontic practice. We are seeking a dedicated person that is able to travel to both our main practice at Zetland and our secondary practice in Chatswood. Job Description: As an Orthodontic Dental Assistant at Orthoworx, you will be an integral part of our dynamic team. Your role will involve: Assisting our specialist Orthodontist and Oral Health Therapists (OHTs): Collaborate with our experienced orthodontist and OHTs during a variety of orthodontic procedures, ensuring the highest level of patient care. Front desk duties: You will be required to cover some receptionist duties at least once a week and will need to be familiar with phone etiquette and software usage. Patient Interaction: Provide compassionate patient care, addressing concerns, and ensuring a positive experience for every patient. Diagnostic Imaging: Take intra-oral scans, X-rays, and photographs as directed by the orthodontist to assist in treatment planning. Instrument Sterilization: Maintain a sterile environment by meticulously sterilizing orthodontic instruments and equipment according to strict infection control protocols. Records Management: Update and maintain detailed patient records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality. Orthodontic Procedures: Assist with a wide range of orthodontic procedures, including adjustments, fittings, and brace/aligner removals. Patient Education: Educate patients about proper oral hygiene and care during their orthodontic treatment journey. Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the orthodontic team and other staff members to ensure seamless patient care. Compliance: Adhere to all relevant health and safety regulations and maintain compliance with dental laws and guidelines. Requirements: Certification: Certificate III or IV in Dental Assisting is an advantage. Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience as an orthodontic dental assistant or treatment coordinating is desired but not essential—training will be provided. Skills: Proficiency in intra-oral scans, X-rays, and photographs. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to multi-task. Attention to detail and strong organizational abilities. Basic familiarity with intra-oral scans, X-rays, and photographs is required. Team Player: Ability to work effectively within a team-oriented environment. Professionalism: Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times. Permanent resident status in Australia is required for this position.
