Prendiville Catholic College is a Catholic co‑educational College established by the Archdiocese in 1986 with over 1100 students from Year 7‑12. We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Peripatetic Music Tutor, specialising in Orchestral Percussion to join our vibrant and rapidly expanding Instrumental Tuition Programme. This person will have the capacity to deliver individual and paired lessons to students from Years 7 – 12 (including ATAR and Certificate III students) as well as rehearse and direct the Percussion Ensemble once per week. Instrumental students at Prendiville Catholic College receive one half‑hour tuition lesson per week on a rotational basis, are expected to be involved in at least one College Music Ensemble and take part in several performance events throughout the year. Tutors work closely with the Performing Arts Administrator and Head of Learning Area. They are responsible for the planning and delivery of individual and paired lessons to students from Years 7 – 12 (including ATAR and Certificate III students) as well as rehearsing and directing the Percussion Ensemble once per week. Instrumental students at Prendiville Catholic College receive one half‑hour tuition lesson per week on a rotational basis, are expected to be involved in at least one College Music Ensemble, and take part in a number of performance events throughout the year. The successful applicant will work in our state‑of‑the‑art Performing Arts Centre and spacious, air‑conditioned instrumental tuition rooms. Responsibilities and Duties Deliver high quality instrumental tuition to students across a variety of abilities, ages and backgrounds. Foster the musicality, technical development and disciplined practice habits of students. Report on student progress and attainment two times per year, meeting the required reporting deadlines. Prepare students for performances, ensemble participation, and ongoing progression in the Music program at the College. Prepare students for internal and external performance exams, as well as performances at the Catholic Performing Arts Festival. Liaise with the Performing Arts Administrator and Head of Learning Area regarding student attendance, progress, reporting, and performances. Attend College performance evenings and Catholic Performing Arts performances to direct ensembles as required by the Head of Learning Area. Build positive and professional relationships with students, parents, and colleagues. Demonstrated proficiency on your instrument, with the ability to prepare students for ATAR examinations. Strong communication skills, high level organisational skills, and proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and meet deadlines.
