Council of the City of Sydney, Österreich Abergeldie Complex Infrastructure Vollzeit

About Us Abergeldie is a majority locally owned contractor with 30 years’ industry experience in Australia and New Zealand. We design and deliver projects in the Water, Bridges, Transport, Underground, Energy and Remediation industry sectors. Projects include dams, bridges, tunnels, water and wastewater treatment process facilities, rail infrastructure, mining infrastructure, electrical substations, marine works and pipeline rehabilitation: the complex infrastructure needed to build better communities. About the Opportunity Abergeldie is building something significant. As our business continues to grow across Australia and New Zealand, we are strengthening our safety leadership capability to support a more connected, proactive and mature approach to risk, culture and operational delivery. We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Manager of Safety (NSW) to lead our safety function across one of our key regions. This is a leadership role with real influence. You will guide a team of Senior Advisors and Advisors, partner with regional operational leaders, and play a central role in delivering our safety strategy, critical control framework and cultural uplift agenda. You will shape and deliver the regional safety strategy in alignment with Abergeldie’s national priorities, providing clear insight on emerging risks, legislation changes and leading indicators. Through visible leadership and strengthened accountability, you’ll drive consistent and meaningful cultural uplift across our projects. Leading a capable regional team of Senior Advisors and Advisors, you’ll build clarity around roles, expectations and measurable outcomes, while encouraging innovation, technology adoption and evidence-based decision making. You’ll oversee the verification of critical controls, lead assurance programs to test control effectiveness, and identify opportunities for improvement. You’ll also provide high-level support during project mobilisation, tenders and high-risk work, lead complex investigations and ensure that learning is embedded across the business. You’ll maintain compliance with WHS legislation, ISO 4501, OFSC requirements and client frameworks, while strengthening our integrated safety systems, reporting structures and executive visibility. You’ll build strong relationships with regulators, auditors and clients, maintaining confidence in our capability and our people. You’ll also champion digital tools, analytics and field technology to lift performance and engagement, identify and scale practical solutions that enhance safety outcomes, and promote collaboration, knowledge sharing and continuous learning across teams and regions. This is an ideal opportunity for a safety leader who brings strong operational credibility, strategic thinking and a passion for people-centred safety leadership. You will help shape Abergeldie’s next chapter and build a safer, stronger and more resilient organisation. What You’ll Bring to the Team Diploma or higher in Work Health and Safety with leadership or management qualifications viewed favourably. White Card and valid drivers licence. 3+ years in senior safety leadership within construction, infrastructure or utilities. Demonstrated success leading multi-site and multi-jurisdictional operations. Strong experience influencing senior leaders and driving cultural change. Background integrating WHS systems across Australia/New Zealand (advantageous). Record of leading safety in high-risk, client-facing project environments. Lead Auditor (ISO 4501) and advanced incident investigation training (ICAM, TapRoot or equivalent); critical control management or high-risk verification training desirable. Strategic thinker with strong commercial awareness. Influential communicator with executive presence. Collaborative, people-centered leader who builds trust and accountability. Curious, improvement-minded and comfortable challenging the status quo. Practical problem solver who can translate system intent into safe, reliable work practices.
