Role Description This is a full‑time Solution Architect role based preferably in the ACT, with flexible hybrid working arrangements available. Applicants based in other Australian states or territories may be considered. As a Solution Architect, you will provide strategic and technical guidance across a range of digital and ICT initiatives. You’ll work closely with delivery teams, business stakeholders, and technical specialists to design, document, and guide the implementation of high‑quality, scalable solutions. This role is responsible for shaping architecture direction, ensuring alignment with requirements and constraints, and supporting project teams through the development lifecycle. Responsibilities Lead the development of architectures for complex business and technology solutions aligned with agreed requirements. Provide technical direction, governance, and support on solution development and integration activities. Identify and evaluate architectural options, balancing cost, performance, scalability, and organisational constraints. Produce specifications for cloud, hybrid, and on‑premises components, including interfaces, tiers, and design patterns. Manage and coordinate target architectures across multiple streams or initiatives. Ensure architectural decisions, strategies, and technical standards (including security) are applied consistently. Assess change requests and advise on impacts, risks, and recommended actions. Work collaboratively within agile delivery environments and cross‑functional teams. Essential criteria 3–5 years’ demonstrated experience as a Solution (Application) Architect on large‑scale transformation initiatives. Proven experience designing applications and solutions for traditional on‑premises, cloud, and hybrid environments. Technical proficiency with Microsoft 365, Azure DevOps, Azure API Management, Azure App Service Environments, Azure Functions & Logic Apps, Azure Service Bus Experience with modern application and integration frameworks, such as: Single Page Application frameworks (e.g., Blazor, React) Asynchronous integration frameworks Data microservices Composable application design Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into clear, plain language for diverse audiences. Excellent analytical and problem‑solving capability with the ability to design fit‑for‑purpose solutions. Excellent relationship‑building skills, with the ability to bridge technical and business perspectives. Baseline security clearance prior to commencement, and ability to obtain a Negative Vetting Level 1 security clearance. Desirable Tertiary qualifications or industry certifications in Information Management, Computer Science, or similar. Skill in architecture modelling using ArchiMate (3.1) or equivalent frameworks. Experience delivering large‑scale ICT transformation programs within government or regulated environments. Familiarity with agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, or similar).
