Position: Graduate Accountant Location: Lilydale Employment type: Full-time Firm: Mark Costigan & Associates About the role We are seeking a motivated Graduate Accountant to join our business services, superannuation and tax team. This role is ideal for a recent accounting graduate who is keen to develop strong technical skills and gain hands‑on experience working directly with clients in a public practice environment. Key Responsibilities Assist in preparing Individual, company, trust and partnership income tax returns Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Instalment Activity Statements (IAS) Financial statements for small to medium businesses and investment entities Self Managed Superannuation fund income tax returns and financial statements Perform reconciliations of bank accounts, debtors/creditors and key balance sheet accounts Assist senior accountants with tax planning, year-end workpapers and ad hoc advisory tasks Help manage ATO and ASIC correspondence and maintain client records Use accounting software (e.g. Xero / MYOB / QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel to process and analyse data Communicate with clients by phone and email regarding basic information and queries (under supervision) Contribute to workflow management and ensure jobs are completed within timeframes Skills, Qualifications & Attributes Intention to commence or currently undertaking CA / CPA studies Strong attention to detail and good understanding of basic accounting and tax concepts Solid Excel skills and confidence using cloud‑based accounting software (training will be provided) Good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to articulate Willingness to learn, ask questions and take feedback on board Strong work ethic, reliability and a genuine interest in a long‑term career in public practice accounting What We Offer Direct mentoring from experienced accountants and partners On‑the‑job training and exposure to a wide variety of client work Monthly in‑house tax update training sessions Study leave support for CA / CPA studies A friendly, professional team environment with genuine work–life balance Genuine opportunity for career progression as your skills develop How to Apply Click Apply and upload your CV, academic transcript (unofficial is fine) and a short cover letter telling us: Why you want a career in public practice, and Why you’d be a great fit for Mark Costigan & Associates Note: Australian citizenship is required for this position #J-18808-Ljbffr
