Compliance and Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Adviser Fairholme College is one of Australia's leading independent girls' schools with approximately 900 students from Kindy to Year 12. Position Description POSITION: Compliance and Workplace Health and Safety Adviser. RESPONSIBLE TO: Principal through Deputy Principal. REPORTS TO: Deputy Principal KEY FUNCTIONAL RELATIONSHIPS: Business Manager, Facilities Manager and Administration Manager. We seek a committed, professional, and appropriately qualified Compliance and WHS Adviser wanting to join the College community in this important area of school operations. Particularly, we seek a person with demonstrated experience in policy development, compliance, and sustainable work practices. Fundamental to the employment of all staff is support for the College’s Christian values and ethos and active, consistent demonstration of this. As a College that employs a restorative approach to management of conflict, we seek someone skilled in communication and mediation and with an alignment with the principles of restorative practices. Required qualifications include Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (BSB41419) (or equivalent) as well as experience in Workplace Rehabilitation and Return to Work. A current First Aid certificate and Blue Card are also requirements. The position can be either Part-time or Full-time depending upon the appointment. Position Overview As a Compliance and Workplace Health and Safety Adviser under direction of the Deputy Principal and working closely with the Projects and Compliance Manager, you will undertake the following set of key responsibilities within College operations: Key Areas Workplace Health and Safety Policy development and maintenance Compliance Practices and Processes Sustainable work practices and Return to Work Duties Workplace Health And Safety Lead the College’s Workplace, Health, and Safety Committee; Oversee and implement Rehabilitation and Return to Work Processes; Provide and develop appropriate professional learning in person and online for staff to develop their effective management of risk within their work environment, including child protection; Develop and deliver annual online and in-person WHS, and compliance training for all staff, including induction, safety and mandatory training and refresher modules in areas relevant to the College needs; Lead the College’s incident management process including reporting, investigation, corrective actions and maintaining accurate records in accordance with Queensland WHS legislation. Policy Development Monitor and maintain the College Policies Register, ensuring policies are reviewed and updated in a timely manner; Ensure compliance issues and concerns within the organisation are appropriately evaluated, investigated, and resolved; Maintain a system for policy review, renewal, and distribution; Research and draft College policies as directed; Maintain historical records of all policy versions electronically; As a key member of the College’s Internal Risk Committee, be the conduit for current information regarding policy development, changes, and implementation; Update staff when policy changes occur and track related policy acknowledgements and training; Lead implementation of the Queensland Child Safe Standards including policy alignment, evidence collection, staff training, risk assessments and integration into onboarding and annual compliance cycles; Oversee compliance onboarding processes including early access training, induction modules, staff acknowledgements and maintenance of compliance records. Compliance Processes And Procedures Oversee new or reaccreditation matters ensuring standards are met, such as (but not limited to) Occupational Safety and Health, National Quality Standards for Kindy, CRICOS, Boarding standards and the NSAAB Review; Assist in the regular update of information for all staff as contained on the staff portal of our Learning Management platform; Assist with Administration of staff induction. Other Duties The Principal may require the Compliance and Workplace Health and Safety Adviser to undertake other duties from time to time (subject to the person’s ability to perform such duties) and in keeping with their role.
