The Role The Working Capital Manager leads the team responsible for keeping revenue moving through the firm. You will oversee the WIP analysts and credit controllers who manage unbilled work, billing progress and collections. The core purpose is to ensure that matters move from WIP to invoice to cash with clarity, structure and minimal friction. This is not a frontline collections role. The emphasis is on leadership, coaching, stakeholder management and building strong billing and collections routines. You will work closely with partners, practice executives and the global revenue team to build trust in the process, clear bottlenecks early and strengthen the firm’s overall working capital performance. Duties and Responsibilities Lead and support the WIP and credit control teams Monitor unbilled WIP and identify ageing matters Drive timely billing and strengthen billing routines Remove billing and approval bottlenecks Support credit controllers with escalation strategy Engage with partners and practice executives across Australia Guide the team on communication style and partner expectations Review ageing reports and working capital metrics Support global projects with the Brisbane and Glasgow teams Provide insights and recommendations to improve working capital Help the team navigate challenges related to partner availability Support continuous improvement across WIP, billing and collections Review data and identify early signs of risk or delay Promote consistent processes within the shared services environment About You You understand how partnership based professional services firms operate. You are comfortable navigating different communication styles, stakeholder expectations and competing time pressures. You are a confident people leader who provides clarity and support. You communicate with ease, stay calm under pressure and bring a balanced mix of commercial instinct and emotional intelligence. You enjoy improving routines, solving bottlenecks and coaching a team through complex scenarios.
