About The Role This is an expression of interest only, and we may not have a vacant role your location at the time you apply. Our team will review your application as roles become available and if we think your skills and experience are a good match, we’ll be in touch with you regarding next steps in the process. As a Station Staff or Conductor, you are integral to the success of V/Line’s Customer Group. Our Conductor roles are based onboard our trains primarily responsible for the safety of all those onboard. This position requires you to keep in constant communication with the driver via radio, staying up to date with passenger numbers of those boarding and alighting at each stop and capture this data in various V/Line apps. You'll also be administering first aid and spot cleaning the train as required, the whole time providing exceptional customer service to every one of our passengers. Our Station Staff are the first point of contact for our passengers. This hands‑on role will see you selling Mykis, making announcements, coordinating coach activities and de‑escalating situations as they arise while making sure that all V/Line passengers are provided with fantastic customer service. You'll need to stay on the lookout for any risks or hazards around the station, ensuring that the station is neatly presented and always well maintained (including cleaning toilets and washing windows). Keep in mind that you will need to work at 24/7 rotating roster and depending on scheduling and business needs, you may be required to sign on and work at various stations along the Bendigo line within 80 km of your home depot. Key accountabilities include: Assist with ticketing, fare checking, and luggage handling Ensure trains are ready for service, from cleanliness to functionality Work through service disruptions and emergency situations with calm professionalism Manage and report any equipment or facility issues About You A true customer service professional, you are punctual, reliable, energetic and your communication skills are second to none. You'll need to be adaptable to change and develop the ability to not let negative interactions stick with you and maintain emotional resilience and professionalism at all times. You will gain a Cert 3 in Customer Rail Operations across 3‑4 weeks and then have an additional 2‑3 weeks completing On‑The‑Job training. Whilst completing both of those, you will be on a Trainee Staff rate (R$28.31 for Station Staff or R$36.63 for Conductors). Once qualified your rate will be R$43.75 for Station Staff or R$48.94 for Conductor, plus super, loadings & penalty rates, in accordance with the current V/Line Rail Operations and Administrative Employees Agreement 2023.
