Network Operator (Traffic Control Operations) Sydney NSW Road Transport (Manufacturing, Transport and Logistics) Contract/Temp 12-month casual positions, based in Sydney. This role requires full availability, including weekends and public holidays, as the roads we manage operate 24/7. About the role We're seeking casual Network Operators to work in our busy control rooms, redirect traffic flow, coordinate response teams, and relay critical info to keep our roads safe, all while remaining naturally composed and alert at all times. You’ll join an innovative team, who tirelessly monitor the flow of the traffic with an eagle eye and respond with lightning speed in the event of incidents, both big and small. Day‑to‑day responsibilities Work with different control systems to monitor and manage traffic on both open roads and in tunnels Automated Height Detectors, Road Management systems, CCTV, Automatic Incident Detection Systems – these are just some of the tools you will master like the back of your hand Work collaboratively with field staff, Emergency Services and your team to act swiftly to respond to incidents, contain the event and keep everyone safe Incident Management and Traffic Management plans will become second nature to you; you will create these with ease to ensure our roads run more efficiently and safely when things don’t go to plan Your curious mind will drive you to think bigger, find new ways to improve our processes, traffic management, and make recommendations Collate real‑time information on road conditions for our stakeholders, the media and our customers so there are no surprises when they use our roads Understand the importance of rigorous knowledge of traffic management policies, practices and procedures, including operational systems Qualifications & requirements Experience in a monitoring centre or operational environment Computer smart and analytical, fascinated with new technology and systems – you like to jump in the deep end Driven, resilient and efficient, showing confidence and professionalism no matter how challenging the situation is Organised, efficient and decisive in prioritising the tasks that count, while juggling multiple tasks Experienced in writing reports and knowing which important details to include so the operation runs smoothly Shift work your thing; you have done it before and you like it – our roads are open 24/7 If you meet some of these requirements, but not all, we encourage you to submit your application.
